The Texas Stroke Institute offers a two-year Fellowship in Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology (aka Interventional Neurology). There will be two Fellowship positions (non-ACGME) every year effective July 2010. Neuro-Interventional Fellows will be exposed to:

  • Cerebral & Spinal Angiography
  • IV & IA Stroke Thrombolysis
  • Mechanical Thrombectomy
  • Carotid & Intracranial Stenting
  • Aneurysm & AVM Embolization
  • Brain/Spine Tumor Embolization
  • Other procedures of head/neck/spine

Fellows will have an opportunity to use Tele-Stroke for clinical evaluation of stroke and Neuro-Interventional patients in the ER. Presenting research abstracts at national conferences, as well as, submitting research papers to peer-reviewed journals is strongly encouraged. Fellows will be exposed to weekly and monthly educational conferences that will include didactic lectures, clinical case conferences, Neuro-Radiology conferences, and grand rounds.

This will aid in improving the overall treatment rates, as well as, outcomes for patients with brain-attacks in this Stroke belt.
